Liz, that's a good question. I would definitely try to speak with SAG to get an official answer.

However, my understanding is that because it's a New Media contract you can hire union and non-union performers, so once someone is SAG eligible you are free to use them as long as you follow the appropriate SAG rules.

I have a question... I just produced a webseries under the New Media agreement and Taft-Hartley'd a few actors. Will they now need to pay to join SAG for us to continue shooting episodes? Or does that 30-day rule just apply to new projects? I contacted Maria at SAG but she hasn't gotten back to me.

As someone who interviews industry professionals on a regular basis for my own site, I think it's a great idea and you should add casting directors, managers, producers, and others who could be in a position to help actors like you to the list. (Your cohorts in the other cities should also be doing these types of interviews, IMHO.)

The reason I think it's great idea is because insider tips from industry pros will make for fantastic content for your blog (& you should do it even if you have an agent and no problem meeting CDs, producers, etc.). Dos and don'ts, headshot analysis (what works/what doesn't), secrets to breaking in and secrets to career longevity, etc. are just a few topics that spring to mind.

Be delicate, though, about communicating that you are seeking representation. It's sure to come up but you don't want them to think that's the only reason you contacted them. (Cause it shouldn't be!)

Love your site. Working on a post about it. Look for it soon!

It is their responsibility to get it to you. The filmmakers know that one of the big reasons you're doing their film is credit/copy, especially since most no budgets that you audition for say credit/copy/meal in their submission.(AFI is great at getting copy back quickly.)
